African Prisons Project

We are a community of sinners and saints working to bring dignity, hope and justice. We put the power of the law into the hands of the poor by training prisoners, prisons staff and ex prisoners in Uganda and Kenya in law. About half of our trainees receive simple paralegal training and half study for University of London law degrees by correspondence. The Associates will be supporting us as we work to understand what it means for us to function as a community and how we support community members in and leaving prison. The Associates will help us learn from good practice elsewhere and will support us in making the transition from prison welfare NGO to prison based law college and law firm run by a community of sinners and saints.
